Juyongguan Great Wall at a glance
Juyongguan is a mountain pass on the Great Wall in Changping district, north of central Beijing. It sits lower down the Guangou valley, while Badaling is at the upper end of the same valley. The two are separate sights with separate tickets. A Badaling ticket does not include Juyongguan.
The pass is known for its stone gate platform from the Yuan period and for wall that climbs the slopes on both sides. If you want a day on the wall with fewer logistics, compare the options in our guide to Great Wall tours from Beijing. If you travel on your own, set your map destination to Juyongguan, not to Badaling.

What to see at the pass
The pass is known for its Yuan-period stone platform, called Yuntai. It is the best-known structure here and a good place to start.
Restoration began in 1992 and the site opened to tourists in March 1998. The wall climbs the hillsides on both sides of the gate, so expect stairs and some uphill walking.
The pass guarded the route through the Guangou valley. Traditional buildings stand around the gate, and the view from the wall follows the valley.

Prices, hours and night visits
What to expect in 2026.
Ticket price
The adult ticket is CNY 35 in 2026, and the high season can cost up to CNY 40, so allow for CNY 35 to CNY 40 when you budget. Reduced tickets cost CNY 20 and CNY 17.50, and full-time students aged 19 to 25 qualify for the reduced rate. Entry is free up to and including age 18 and from age 60. Bring valid documents.
Opening hours
Hours are 08:30 to 17:30 in the high season and 08:30 to 16:30 in the low season. Check the current hours and the last entry time before you go, because they can change.
Night program
In 2026 the night program ran from 21 August to 6 October, on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays except the last day of a holiday, from 18:00 to 21:00. It is a seasonal offer, so do not plan an evening visit outside those weeks without checking.
How to plan your day
Getting there
Taxi and ride-hailing fares are not fixed, so agree the destination clearly and ask about the return trip. Check current public transport before you go. Do not count on a fixed shuttle between Badaling and Juyongguan.
Getting to Badaling โCombine with the Ming Tombs
Juyongguan and the Ming Tombs are both in Changping district. That makes them a more natural pair than Juyongguan and Badaling. The Ming Tombs have their own tickets and rules.
Ming Tombs and Great Wall โBoth passes in one day
Only add Badaling if you start early and have a driver or guide, and check the transfer on the day. Two wall visits with a long transfer can leave little time at either.
Other wall sections
Mutianyu is a different section in a different district. See our Mutianyu guide or read our Badaling vs Mutianyu comparison.
